AL and BNP both will keep using the Police for its own...leaders of this two political parties needs to sacrifice the using of Police for their own good and improve the law and order situation of our country. If AL is in power then BNP will use the crime situation of Bangladesh as a campaign material and so does AL when BNP will be in power.

For the sake of that the two political parties need to make the Police force of Bangladesh an independent and free, so that they can concentrate on other areas.

Capital's outskirts and its adjoining areas are now a safe place for criminals as they hardly ever have to face law enforcers.
Keraniganj, Savar, Pagla, Tongi and Kaliganj of Gazipur and Chittagong Road are the main hideouts of the criminals. After committing various crimes like murder, robbery and mugging in the capital, the criminals go back to the suburbs.
In the face of the massive manhunt launched by the Rapid Action Battalion (RA and the DMP police, hardened criminals do not stay in the capital. They have taken shelter in the suburbs. If there is no coordination between the capital police and the suburban police, the criminals would not be nabbed, a highly placed source in the police department said.
The criminals in association with the local terrorists and hoodlums are also running illegal drug trade, committing murder, extortion, mugging and robbery in these areas. None dare to speak against the criminals in the area, the local people say.
Patronised by the local influential people, the hardened criminals are staying in rented houses of those areas. Committing various crimes in the capital, the criminals hide themselves in those areas and make preparations to commit more crimes. These places have turned into a crime zone where, people accused of murder, illegal drug traders, robbers and thieves spend their days without any hindrance there, sources said.
Meanwhile, the law and order situation in the country has deteriorated in the recent days as a section of politicians and corrupt police officials are allegedly harbouring and patronising criminals while some ruling party leaders are reportedly controlling the police.
According to well-informed sources, the main reason for the deterioration in the overall law and order situation is the alleged interference by political leaders belonging to the ruling circle in the activities of the police department.
The sources said "Improvement of law and order is quite impossible as long as a section of the ruling party leaders as well as some dishonest people in the police department are allegedly patronise the criminals."
The sources said that in the face of the drive by the law enforcers the criminals had gone into hiding, but they resumed their criminal activities as soon as the drive was over. Not only some politicians but also a section of police officials also are helping the hoodlums.
It is alleged that the a section of ruling party leaders urge the police in public to nab the terrorists and improve law and order at any cost, but in private these leaders request the members of the law enforcing agencies not to arrest their followers.
According to the sources, police in many cases do not arrest the culprits without clearance from the local political leaders belonging to the ruling party. It has been found on some occasions that criminals arrested by the police were released immediately after the intervention of the ruling party leader of the locality, sources added.
